D.W. Wilburn served as general contractor for the new Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.

The project was a collaborative effort between the Kentucky Horse Park, local and state officials, and several varied end-users of the facility. Working together, the project team was able to secure funding and attract businesses and events to the region through the development of a versatile and user-friendly facility.

 

Project features include 5,700 stadium seats with 200 additional suite-level seats, a 9,400 sf event floor, a 20,000 sf concourse exhibition space, six concession stands, support facilities and on-site parking.

 

Project challenges included extensive steel work and an accelerated construction schedule to prepare for the opening of the World Equestrian Games in September of 2010.
